The 2020 E Series v.4 subwoofers feature improved components, durability, and performance, making them the best E series yet.

The fourth version of our acclaimed E series has been refreshed for 2020. Since we introduced the first E series in 2012 we have sought to push the limits of entry-level woofers forward. Typical entry level woofers are highly limited in terms of linear excursion, mechanical ruggedness, and thermal performance – all of these bars have been raised once again for our fourth generation E series. The v.4 update is a minor refresh from the v.3 featuring a new custom-tooled, stronger stamped steel frame and a upgrade to our directional forced-air cooling spacer.

The E8 has an interesting place in Sundown Audio history. The E8 v.1 was the FIRST subwoofer ever made by Sundown Audio back in 2008. By the time we released the E-10/12/15 v.1 series the 8” was on its third generation so it’s version remains ahead to this day. We are often asked about this little history tidbit so we thought it would be interesting to include it right here!

With the launch of the SA v.2 woofers we heard a lot of call to also keep the old version for lower depth / lower cost applications — so we did that via the “Classic” SA. Still available in 10s and 12s it is essentially the SA v.1 Rev.3 but with a black motor finish. We even squeezed in an upgrade… the motor is bolted together for enhanced long-term durability!

he Sundown SA series has been our most popular line since its original introduction in 2009. What better way to create a new version 2 than to upgrade, literally, every single part of the woofer? We started with a larger, more powerful motor to drive the larger 2.75” coil and stronger soft parts – this maintains the perfect balance of the original SA series while also increasing the power handling to 1000-watts RMS.

The SA-8 v.3 represents the pinnacle of low distortion, ported box 8 inch subwoofer technology. We built on our experience with the SA-8 series dating back to the original model which launched in 2010 to create something completely unique to the market. Every piece of the SA-8 v.3 has been custom tooled with the utmost performance and lowest distortion in mind. We started with a proprietary FEA optimized motor design engineered just for the SA-8 v.3 which features a large aluminum faraday right for low magnetic and inductive distortion levels. This motor is mated to a custom tooled and patented (US Patent D691595) frame which allows for a larger spider and superior clearances to nearly any other 8″ woofer on the market today.
