The Sundown SA series has been our most popular line since its original introduction in 2009. What better way to create a new version 2 than to upgrade, literally, every single part of the woofer? We started with a larger, more powerful motor to drive the larger 2.75” coil and stronger soft parts – this maintains the perfect balance of the original SA series while also increasing the power handling to 1000-watts RMS.

The Sundown SLD series can be considered a “re-boot” of the SD-2 line from 2011. The SD-2 was essentially a “shallow SA v1” by design – meaning it shared the cone, surround, and spider with the SA but with a shorter motor with a shorter coil. The SD series went another route starting with the 3rd generation (SD-3) – tilting more towards SQ and sealed enclosures (this remains true for the SD-4 series as well). Due to popular demand we created the SLD series to add a heavily abuse tolerant “shallow” that likes ported boxes back into the line-up!

The SML series is the shallowest line of subwoofers to ever be offered by Sundown Audio. Despite being over and inch shallower than our SLD series we are within 1mm of linear excursion comparatively. This is a huge win for customers requiring an extremely shallow driver. We found that the SML series will fit the majority of pre-fab under-seat enclosures and perform extremely well in the air-space provided by these enclosures as well. These will excel in such applications.
